The story of Dirks Duckweed is synonymous with the concept that “every journey begins with the first step.”
As foreshadowing to the journey ahead, I will tell the story of a past journey. The story of our mosaic project.
It begins like this:
First there was a humble edifice with a crumby old paint job…

Then there was a blank slate with a million ideas that may come.
It was then decided that:
“Happy Life, San Pedro”
was the theme of choice.

Then Catalina was formed!
And some fancy blue, black and white tiles joined the party.

And life started to emerge.
Including Copernicus. A springer spaniel with what appear to be glowing eyes.

People then began to sail around in boats!
Flowers began to grow
And more fancy blue, black and white tiles appeared.

The Sun then peaked over the island to shed light onto a single standing tree .
And the people in their boats were happy…

With their joy, the sky began to expand.
More flowers, a butterfly, and the head of a sad lion sprang into being.
(The lion was sad because he could not sail boats)

The people in the boats, needing to avoid the sad lion on shore, cried out for a lighthouse by which they could navigate.
And their wish was granted by a young mermaid and her dog…
(who strangely looks a lot like Copernicus, the springer spaniel)

So the actual Copernicus (aka Cooper for short) came to investigate.
He liked what he saw and thought he’d stick around for a while.

In time, Cooper got tired of sniffing about waiting for grass to grow,
But it did…
And so did the sky.
- Scroll for More -
The grass, growing so fast, zipped across the shoreline,
Until one day…

The author of this story thought it prudent to give credit to all those who had helped to make the little world themed “Happy Life, San Pedro” possible.
And finally…

A dock popped up under the mermaid and her dog!
A colorful sunlit ocean filled the expanse between Catalina and San Pedro!
And beaches of yellow divided land and sea!
So, with the mosaic complete…

The narrator jumped aboard a tall ship (voluntarily, I might add) and sailed off into the sunset.
The End.
